Toccoa Falls and an Automotive Museum

Looking for a nice day trip?

Consider visiting Toccoa, GA?

Toccoa is only about an hour from the Atlanta metro, the Athens area and about an hour from Greenville, SC.  Even a trip from Charlotte, NC would be an easy day trip and Toccoa sits right at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Toccoa Falls

Waterfalls are beautiful and Toccoa has a great one.  Toccoa Falls is actually located on the Toccoa Falls College campus. To reach the waterfall you drive straight to the back of the campus and you will come to a nice bookstore.  From here you will be able to actually see the waterfall from your vehicle.

To get up close to the waterfall, access is through the bookstore and admission is about $1 per person. The walk to the waterfall is just that, it is a very easy, flat gravel path that isn’t very long at all and it follows the small stream that comes from the waterfall itself.

Once you arrive at the base of the waterfall you will be able to see it’s full beauty and explore all over the base of the waterfall.  Depending on the amount of rain or the season the flow can be drastically different. Although the waterfall is not very wide it is actually taller than Niagara Falls at 186 Feet with Niagara Falls coming in at 167 Feet. (photo courtesy of Trip Advisor)

Co-op style Automotive Museum

After you’ve gotten your pictures and taken in all you can at the falls, it’s time to pack up and drive a few miles north into Clarkesville.  There you will find the Miles Through Time Automotive Museum inside of the Old Clarkesville Mill.  Even if you’re not a huge car fan, but appreciate the history you’ll want to visit the Miles Through Time Automotive Museum.georgia car museum

There are more than just cars on display in the museum.  There is over 100 years of automotive history on display.
