Tesla Charging Destinations in Northeast Georgia

Electric Car Chargers For All

When it comes to small towns with electric charging stations, Toccoa, GA may just have the most electric car chargers in relation to population.

As of 2016, the population of Toccoa, GA was just over 8,400 people and yet the small city offers three different locations for charging electric vehicles.

The Toccoa welcome center, which is in the historic train depot and also the home to the Currahee Military Museum has one universal electric car charger for use. Another option is to go to the Java Station.  At this location, they have two universal charging stations for you to use.

However, if you are the owner of a Tesla you may opt to head over to the Miles Through Time Automotive Museum.

This is a co-op style automotive museum with over 100 years of automotive history on display in a restored 1939 dealership.  The museum changes constantly so you can keep coming back for a charge and see what has changed.  Inside the museum is a lounge area where you can purchase a Coke and drink it out of a glass bottle while you sit back in the rocking chairs and take in the automotive history.  Free coffee is also always available.

The museum offers 2 universal car chargers and 4 Tesla charging stations. The chargers are always on and available for use, but if you want to visit the museum you will want to get there between 10 and 3, Wednesday through Saturday.

The museum is also only open seasonally, so make sure you make the trek during the summer and follow MTT on Facebook so you can plan for any special hours or events.

For a population close to only 8,ooo people, 10 electric charging stations is a lot and it says something about this community and how it feels about our environment.

Toccoa is only an hour and a half from the heart of Atlanta, an hour from Athens, and just over an hour from Greenville, SC. Toccoa is near Lake Hartwell, sits right at the entrance to the Blue Ridge Mountains and would make a great day trip from any direction.
