Clarkesville, Georgia is only 20 minutes south of Helen, GA which is the 3rd most visited city in Georgia. Clarkesville is also only an hour and a half from the heart of Atlanta, less than 2 hours from Greenville, SC, and just one hour north of Athens. No matter what direction you’re coming from, Clarkesville is a nice mountain town getaway with plenty of places to eat and see.

#1 Miles Through Time Automotive Museum This is a 501c3 nonprofit automotive museum located inside an old textile mill with over 90 full-size vehicles and over 5,000 model cars on display.  There is also an entire town, including a replica of the original Phillips 66 filling station and other historical artifacts on display.  The museum is a co-op-style museum where everything on display has been donated or loaned, many of which are family heirlooms.

#2 Vintage Garage Antiques This antique store has about 100 vendors with antiques, collectibles, and artisan items available. You can’t miss this place inside an old textile mill that also shares its home with Miles Through Time. Look for the VW Beetle in the tower and truck waterfall yard art out front.  All of the vendors at Vintage Garage Antiques actually help support Miles Through Time.

#3 Mark of the Potter is a popular craft shop on the Soquee River.

#4 Hemlock Falls Trail is a nature walk complete with a waterfall.

#5 Sam Pitts Park is a little park with a playground and porch swing.

#6 The Copper Pot is a restaurant downtown that serves American cuisine and delicious pizza.
