About the 1940 Buick
This 1940 Buick Century, a true survivor car, was originally sold in Maine and spent time both there and in Nova Scotia before finding its way to Ohio in 2008. The car retains its original, factory installed drive-train, a testament to its enduring craftsmanship. Ron Kindel, from Chardon, Ohio, spent 14 years meticulously restoring this beauty, focusing on cosmetic and mechanical enhancements while preserving its originality. Remarkably, all the sheet metal, glass, and body trim remain original to the car, with the interior being 90% original. The dual side mounts add to its distinctive appearance, complemented by the black mirror-finish paint and tan broad- 1940 Buick Century cloth interior.
Buick produced 9,473 units of the 1940 Century, representing less than 4% of the company’s total output that year. The four-door Touring sedan, like the one you see here, was the most common, with 8,597 examples built. This particular model stands as a proud reminder of Buick’s legacy, combining luxury, performance, and timeless design. Thanks to the generous donation of Ron Kindel’s family we’re able to share this car with visitors from all over the world.
